Our skin is like any other part of our body, that we need to take care of, But I have often observed that people have very extreme opinions when it comes to skin.
While some believe that taking care of skin is beauty treatment and therefore they disregard it.
Others behave that as if their life will end if they don’t have a flawless skin and thus spend fortunes on fancy skincare products.
Now, make sure you don’t become either of them. You should treat your skin just as you treat other parts of your body neither more nor less.
But yes at the end of the day everyone wants to have a healthy and glowing skin, and this is completely natural.
After all everyone wants to look good! Right??
So, to fulfill this need of yours, I am going to give you 10 practical tips and natural remedies which will help you get a healthy and glowing skin.
But before we go into it I want to clear some of your fundamentals when it comes to having a healthy and glowing skin.
Here is a phrase which explains it well that
Our skin mirrors what is going on inside our body.
This means that our skin is a reflection of the condition of our body. So, simply speaking if we keep ourselves healthy from inside we will easily get healthy and glowing skin.
Honestly, this is the only long term solution to keep our skin healthy.
The artificial remedies available in the market can give you results quickly but they are temporary and don’t last long.
The tips and remedies that I am going to share with you will give results a little bit slowly but they will be permanent. And don’t worry I will also give you natural remedy for instant glow.
So, with that note let’s get started
1) Get a good Sleep
There is a reason that I put this point at the number 1 position. As we all know the importance of good sleep , still many of us neglect it.
But if I tell you that the quality of your sleep has a direct impact on the radiance of your skin you will perhaps start taking your sleep even more seriously.
Yes!
If you want to get a healthy and glowing skin then having a good 7-8 hours undisturbed sleep is absolutely essential.
Unhealthy sleep patterns and insufficient sleep cause early ageing of skin, resulting in dark circles, fine lines and dullness.
So, to avoid this, make sure you take care of of your sleep from now onwards.
2) Exercise
If you want a healthy, glowing and radiant skin then exercise is the next step to achieve your goal.
Exercise not only keeps your heart and other organs healthy, it also gives you healthy skin.
Haven’t you noticed how your skin glows after a run!
This is because exercise improves your blood circulation.
This in turn allows more nutrients and oxygen to reach your skin, which is great.
In addition to this, exercise also removes toxins and fights your skin aliens like pimples.
So, what are you waiting for? Start exercise from today onwards. You can do yoga, dance, aerobics, jogging, cycling etc. anything
Just start and aim between 30 mins to 1 hour a day depending on your daily schedule.
3) Milk – An excellent cleanser to get a healthy and glowing skin
Milk is the best cleanser that I have ever known.
Using milk you can easily get all the dirt out of your skin.
What you need to do is-
- Take some raw milk in a small bowl ( Make sure you don’t waste it).
- Dip a piece of cotton in it so that the cotton absorbs the milk.
- Then clean your face with that cotton.
- You will see that all the dirt of your face will come in the cotton, it works very well.
- Then you can also use it on your whole body, if you like.
- It will clean your skin of dirt you never knew existed.
Note- In case of oily skin adding some drops of lemon is recommended.
It is best to do this everyday while bathing, but if you happen to do it at any other time, make sure you wash your skin with clean water after 15 minutes.
4) Stress – biggest enemy of a healthy and glowing skin
In today’s fast changing world stress has become more and more common.
Stress is no doubt the biggest enemy that you will encounter in your way to get healthy, glowing and radiant skin.
When you stress out, the body releases hormones like cortisol.
Now, release of cortisol leads to a process called glycation.
Glycation damages the skin’s collagen fiber and leads to appearance of fine lines, wrinkles etc.
Did it got a little too technical ??
Well in short and simple language stress can cause
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Early greying of your hair
- White heads and blackheads
- Acne
- Dark circles and baggy eyes
To name a few problems.
Now another big problem is that most of us don’t even realize that we are in stress even though we are in stress.
This is because we think of stress like some sort of mental tension or worry like a fear of a negative event that might take place in school, college or office; memory of a knife- piercing comment by someone; some kind of depression etc.
Yes, no doubt that all these things lead to stress.
But what we don’t realize is that stress in our body is also caused by things we consider normal like
- lack of sleep
- exertion
- overwork
- pain due to untreated injury, headache, pain in neck etc.
So, from now on try to take care of these things also.
5) Drink plenty of water
Well I know that this step is easier said than done. Don’t worry to solve this problem. I will give you a short plan which will help you drink 2-3 L of water everyday.
But first let’s have a look on the benefits of water on skin –
- It hydrates the skin thus reducing the number of fine lines on it
- It removes toxins from the skin
- Helps unclog the pores of the skin which reduces acne and saves you from heavy pimples
Plan to drink 2-3 L water a day
- Drink 1 L water as soon as you wake up (You will not be able to drink this much from the day one, so start from 300-400 ml and then slowly increase)
- Drink 1-2 glass water 1 hour after breakfast
- Then drink 2-3 glasses while at work (that is during the day)
- Then drink 1-2 glass 1 hour after dinner
This short plan will help you drink 2-3 L water a day
Note- If you are already drinking this much water, then don’t increase as drinking excess water is also as bad as drinking insufficient.
6) Stay away from gadgets as much as possible
A bonus for not browsing through your mobile, laptop or tab unnecessarily could be a healthy, glowing and radiant skin.
Sounds like a great deal??
Well it definitely is!
As per many researches conducted around the world, the blue light emitted from electronic gadgets harms our skin greatly.
It damages the collagen fiber which leads to loss of elasticity of the skin leading to fine lines like laughing lines etc.
Also, another serious harm is that it causes early ageing of skin and hyperpigmentation (that is brown spots start appearing on your skin).
To reduce this first of all use blue light filter, if your mobile has that feature(most mobile and laptop nowadays have)
Wait a minute! it doesn’t mean that if you have a blue light filter, you have the permission to scroll unnecessarily.
Blue light filter just replaces the blue light with yellow light, this means that the damage is just reduced by some extent, but not eliminated
So, I seriously recommend that you cut down on your screen hours
7) Aloe Vera – The magical herb for skin
I personally witness the magic of aloe vera work for me everyday.
When I say Aloe Vera,I only mean fresh Aloe Vera gel extracted from an Aloe Vera plant in your house.
I never recommend any so-called “Aloe Vera containing products” available in the market. Also it is very easy to extract Aloe Vera gel.
Just cut an Aloe Vera leaf with a knife, remove the thorns and the outer leaf covering and you will get the gel.
Aloe Vera gel works miraculously on sun burns.
Apart from this it hydrates the skin extremely well and is a great cure for skin dryness. You can apply it on your skin after bathing and then wash it after 15-20 minutes.
Word of Advice – I want to tell you that if you apply Aloe Vera gel daily on your skin(which you no doubt can) Just give breaks in between like apply 5 days regularly then give 2 days gap and then start again, otherwise Aloe Vera can make your skin oversensitive. These breaks will ensure that you get only good out of Aloe Vera.
8) Good Food – Best friend of a healthy and glowing skin
If you eat pizza, burger, fries etc. and then think that you will get a healthy and glowing skin then I am sorry this cannot happen.
As I said in the beginning of this post, our skin is just a reflection of what we are inside.
So, if you keep yourself unhealthy by eating junk food, the same will reflect on your skin in the form of acne, pimples, boils, blisters etc. sooner or later.
Thus, it is best if you eat healthy home cooked food only. Not only will it help your skin but also help you boost your immunity
You can have these junk foods once a month but not more than that and also try avoid white sugar and if possible eliminate it totally like I have done.
9) Smoking – Most dangerous enemy of a healthy and glowing skin
If you follow all the steps that I have listed but you smoke then there is no chance ( and I mean it) that you are going to get a healthy and glowing skin.
In fact you are sure to get some opposite gifts like-
- Dark lips
- Dull and Pale skin
- Hair fall
- Wrinkles around the lips
- Premature greying of hair
Apart from this you will also get some bonuses like eczema, skin cancer and many other types of skin disorder.
Sounds Funny??
Well it is not, I am damn serious here.
While stress is the biggest enemy of your skin as it is much more common than smoking.
Smoking is by far the most dangerous and I would say fatal enemy of your skin.
So, plz if you have this habit just get rid of it as soon as possible.
It won’t happen in a day but you can get rid of it gradually by reducing your intake.
10) Remedy for Acne – A common obstacle in the way of a healthy and glowing skin
Here is a natural remedy to get rid of those pimples.
- Make a paste of neem leaves
- Add half a teaspoon of honey to it
- Apply it on your pimples for 15-20 mins
- Rinse with cold water
Do it regularly till the time acne is gone.
Note– This remedy will work only if the honey you get is real honey and not sugar syrup, corn syrup, fructose syrup in the label of honey.
The only way to ensure this is to get it from a local bee farmer because a lot of big brands also do mixing.
Identification of pure honey- Pure raw honey usually crystallizes to solid form under 10 degree Celsius but again it depends on the type of honey
If you are not able to find a beekeeper you can always try with the honey you have. It might work but I can’t guarantee results in this case.
Bonus tip to Get an Instant Glow on Skin
Now here is the tip to get a glow on your skin:
- Quickly prepare pomegranate juice, drink it but don’t throw the pulp away.
- Instead add yogurt and honey to make it a paste.
- Use this as a face pack after cleansing your skin, keep it for 20 mins and then rinse.
- Your skin will look bright and fresh with this pack.
Conclusion
Getting a healthy and glowing skin using natural methods demands more patience, but trust me it is totally worth the patience and effort that you put

Final word of advice- While the tips that I mentioned here are universal, the home remedies can have different effects on different skin types.
